Beyonce asks court to cancel ‘Formation’ lawsuit

Beyonce‘s legal team has asked the courts to toss aside a lawsuit brought against the singer for using the words of late comedian Anthony Barre aka Messy Mya on a single in her critically acclaimed album Lemonade.

Barre’s family wants royalties, damages and an order that he be credited as a writer, composer, producer and artist on the track.

Barre’s voice is heard in at the begining of the ‘Formation video’ saying “What happened at the New Orleans” and later in the video saying, “Bitch, I’m back by popular demand.” He however did not appear on the track’s audio.
